We’ve long called the two outstanding courses at Primm Valley Golf Club — a half hour’s drive south of Vegas on Interstate 15, just over the Cali border — the “poor man’s Shadow Creek,” though there’s nothing cheap about the Lakes and Desert layouts. Tom Fazio worked his legendary magic on another featureless piece of ground just a few years after the Shadow Creek masterpiece blew everyone in golf minds on what was possible from a bulldozer, a blank check from Steve Wynn and loads of imagination, skill and artistry.
Tom’s incredible vision, talent and artistic creativity is on full display at Primm Valley Golf Club, albeit its not as over-the-top lush and supremely manicured as Shadow Creek, but its also not $500 per round, and we jump at the opportunity to play out at Primm any chance we get!
While we do like to call it “The Poor Mans Shadow Creek” it may be a little bit unfair to the 36 holes at Primm Valley. Both golf courses are 100% solid and courses you would love to play over and over again if you had the time, and no matter how you play, the Primm courses will leave you wanting to come back for some of the best golf in all of the Las Vegas area.
If you are driving to or from to Southern California, the Primm courses at “Must Plays” either on the way in or out of Vegas. And if you are looking to play some of best golf in all of Vegas, make the 30 minutes drive to Primm Valley Golf Club you will be rewarded!
